Udupi, Nov 27: "Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) will host the South zone Inter-University badminton tournament for women 2019-20 from December 2 to 5 at the Marena Indoor Sports Complex here in Manipal,” said Dr H S Ballal, Pro-Chancellor of Manipal University.
The tournament will be inaugurated on December 3 at Marena Indoor Sports Complex by two times South Asian Games gold medalist Trupti Murgunde. As many as 88 teams from South India will participate in the event.
More than 500 participants from various universities of South India will compete in the event. The event will be held over five courts in Marena Indoor Sports Complex. Four teams will be selected for the All India level badminton tournament. The mode of tournament will be on knock-out basis.
Dr Vindoh Bhat, vice chancellor, Dr Poornima Baliga, vice chancellor, Shrikanth Rao, director MIT and Dr PLNG Rao, Dr Shobha M E, joint secretary sports and others were present on the occasion.
