Kasargod, Nov 26: Private buses playing on Kasargod - Talapady route began an indefinite strike from Monday, November 25 onward to register their protest against the wretched condition of the roads. The passengers were hard hit as buses were not available.
The striking bus companies are urging for repairing of the roads and facilitate smooth movement of buses. The bus owners say that because of the bad condition of the roads, they have been compelled to spend heavily on tyres and spare parts, which has made running of buses a losing proposition. In view of the losses suffered, they say they cannot manage the buses.
A few buses which move on the national highway and places nearer to the highway are operating. Bus owners said that some buses are being run at the instance of regular commuters.
As students studying in various colleges at Mangaluru had examinations on Monday, some buses operated their services to Mangaluru. A few buses were found to be operating between Hosangady and Anekal, Hosangady and Meeyapadavu, Hosangady and Bejja, Uppala and Bayaru etc.
