Bengaluru: Separate shootouts in city - Two murder-accused, a rowdy arrested

Bengaluru, Nov 25: The police, on Sunday, November 24 morning, succeeded in arresting a rowdy and two murder-accused after they were compelled to fire at their legs.

Chandan alias ABCD Chandru and Rohit were injured in the firings and both of them were admitted into a hospital. Chandru and Rohit reportedly had stabbed a student, Uma Maheshwar, a degree student, to death relating to dispute which arose during a cricket match. Chandan is from Nagasandra in HMT Layout while Rohit (19) is from Laggere in the city, said northern division deputy commissioner of police, Shashikumar.

He said that police personnel of Nandini Laout sation, Nityananda and Basava, were attacked by the duo when they went to arrest the accused. Both the constables have been admitted into hospital. Chandru, Rohit and six others had killed Umamaheshwar, a BBM student of MES College. The student, who was gravely injured in the attack, had died a day after he was admitted into hospital with severe stab injuries on November 20.

Three accused in the case, Kiran, Vinay, and Sridhar, already stand arrested. Nandini Layout police inspector along with two constables raided a spot near Rajgopal Nagar here after getting information that Chandu and Rohit were hiding there. After the accused attacked and injured two police constables, the inspector, who warned them to surrender and fired in the air, was forced to fire in self-defence, as a result of which, both suffered injuries to one leg each and collapsed.

In another case, a rowdy, Prabhu alias Tami Prabhu, was arrested by the Peenya police by firing at him. He has been admitted into hospital. When the Peenya police went to arrest him from near Tippenahalli after getting information about his presence there, Prabhu, who was absconding after launching murderous assault on a factory owner, was fired at after he attacked police personnel. Inspector Mudduraj, who fired in the air and warned him to surrender, fired at him as he refused to relent.

Rowdy Tamil Prabhu has been accused of murder attempt, thefts, robbery, posing death threats and several other cases. He has been listed as a rowdy in Nandini Layout station. He had seriously injured factory owner Somanath, on November 6 and the police had learnt that he was hired to kill Somanath.
