Bengaluru, Nov 23: As soon as reports emerged that self-styled godman Nithyananda, who has several controversies to his credit, has fled from the country to escape legal action, a curious information has come to light. It is said that D K Shivakumar, former minister and Congress leader, who too is involved with one controversy or the other, has links with Nithyananda. Photo of Shivakumar in the company of Nithyananda became viral on Friday November 22 in social media.
Senior Congress leader. Shivakumar, acknowledged that he had met Nithyananda. In an interview to ANI news agency, Shivakumar said that he had met the godman during assembly election in 2018 seeking votes. He confirmed that he knew Nithyananda since the last 20 years, also as the self-styled religious leader runs several educational institutions besides Nithyananda Ashram.
Nithyananda Swami did not have time even to renew his passport that had expired, before escaping. Based on this information, the police have decided to intensify questioning of two persons believed to be close to Nithyananda, who are in their custody, instead of searching for the missing godman.
Ramanagara district superintendent of police said that Nithyananda was denied the chance to renew his passport.
Nithyananda Swami has been claiming that a systematic plan is being unleashed against him to defame him and that he has not been doing any wrongs nor is he telling any lies.
The latest controversy started after Bengaluru-based parents filed case in Gujarat high court, saying that their two daughters studying in Nithyananda Swami's institutions had gone missing.
It is said that there are chances of Nithyananda hiding in Ecuador. A private news channel said that a former assistant of Nithyananda, Stefany Landry, has said that there is possibility of him hiding in that country. She says that Janardhan Sharma's daughter Lopamudra, also may be in that country. She said that on account of number of cases increasingly filed against Nithyananda, preparations are on to shift the entire operations of his Ashram to Ecuador.
