New Delhi, Aug 24: The Supreme Court on Monday suspended a Delhi High Court order which stripped Prasar Bharati Chief B.S. Lalli of his power to carry out the day-to-day functioning of the public broadcaster.
Staying the major part of the high court's July 27 order, the apex court said the Prasar Bharati chief and its board will continue to function as per the relevant laws enacted for it.
Prasar Bharati runs the Doordarshan channels.
A bench of Chief Justice K.G. Balakrishnan, however, said a probe by the Central Vigilance Commission in the alleged financial and administrative irregularities within Prasar Bharati should be continued, after Lalli's counsel former attorney general Soli J. Sorabjee himself supported the probe and asked the bench to let it continue.
