Bengaluru: KPL betting, match fixing allegation - Umpire questioned

Bengaluru, Nov 22: With regard to KPL betting and match fixing allegations, the police, for the first time, questioned an umpire. Umpire B K Ravi, whose son Sharat, had played for a team of KPL in a match which reportedly had been fixed, was questioned by the authorities on Thursday, November 21.

The central crime branch police personnel questioned an umpire for the first time in the match fixing allegation. Ravi had functioned as umpire for few KPL matches. In one of the matches in which his son Sharat, played as member of one of the teams, Ravi had discharged duty as third umpire. As per rule, parents cannot function as umpires in cricket matches.

This particular match reportedly was fixed. Therefore Ravi was questioned, an officer stated.
