Bantwal, Aug 24: President of Karnataka State High School Teachers Association, Manjunath H K noted that the state primary and secondary education minister Vishweshar Hegde Kageri has promised to solve the problems being faced by the high school teachers in the state. He urged the minister to bring out a writen order on this issue, on the occasion of the Teacher's Day.
Addressing a press conference at B C Road during his visit to Dakshina Kannada district recently, he informed that a meeting of the office bearers of the Association had recently been held with minister Kageri at Bangalore. The minister had promised then, to hold discussions with the officials of the department to find a solution to the long-pending demands of the teachers and to do away with the anomaly in the pay structure of the high school teachers, by increasing the pay scale from the current Rs 8,825 - 16,000 to 10,800 - 20,025, he explained.
The minister also had assured to set right the deficiencies found in the system of transfer through counselling, before the next transfer season. He also promised to issue an order to facilitate teachers to conduct the remedial teaching for the slow-learning students within the office hours, by issuing an order shortly, Manjunath revealed.
He alleged that the disbursement of the salaries of teachers is getting delayed in Dakshina Kannada district alone, whereas the system has been streamlined in all other districts. He demanded that a meeting of the deputy commissioner, chief executive officer of the zilla panchayat here and the officer bearers of the Association be held forthwith, to sort out issues that cause this delay.
