Udupi, Aug 24: Out of the six who got admitted into Manipal Hospital with swine flu symptoms on Friday August 21 and Saturday, the presence of the H1N1 virus has been confirmed in two. With this, the number of confirmed swine flu cases in the district, has gone up to 19.
Three persons each, who had exhibited swine flu symptoms, had been subjected to swine flu tests on Friday and Saturday. Out of them, two students of Manipal Institute of Technology have been confirmed with the infection of H1N1 virus, district health officer Dr Ramachandra Bairy informed.
The four who tested negative, have been shifted to a separate ward for being treated. Already, a total of 16 persons with swine flu infection, have been discharged from the hospital after treating them, he added. He also revealed that latest information about any fresh suspected cases could not be collected on Sunday, as the outpatient department of Manipal Hospital remained closed on account of Ganesha Chaturthi.
