Mangaluru: Accident at Ujjodi claims life of Muslim cleric

Mangaluru, Nov 21: In an accident which happened on national highway at Ujjodi near Pumpwell in the city on the evening of Wednesday November 20, a scooter rider died. He has been identified as Hafil Muhammed Tausif Himami (35), a Muslim religious scholar residing at Melkar - Rengelu near Panemangalore.

Muhammed Tausif was proceeding to Takwa mosque near Pumpwell for providing religious training there, from the direction of K C Road. At about 4.30 am he reached Ujjodi. A private city bus that was following him hit his two-wheeler and the wheels of the bus crushed the victim. Tausif lost his life on the spot.

A complaint was filed in this connection, seeking action against National Highways Authority of India, contractors of the road and bus driver. A case was registered in the city (south) traffic police station.
