Udupi, Nov 19: Udupi City Bus Employees Emergency Seva Sangha organized 'swaccha nildana', clean bus stand programme at the city bus stand here, on November 19.
G Jagadeesha, district commissioner of Udupi inaugurated the programme by cleaning the garbage near the city bus stand. Speaking on the occasion, Jagadeesha said that if a better environment is around us we feel like working efficiently and everyone must contribute to keep the city clean. "If cleanliness is implemented from home, the city automatically becomes clean. In the coming days 'Swacch Udupi' competition will be held in various sections and will be rewarded and honoured by the district administration."
District commissioner also mentioned that a few restaurants and at a few functions bulk waste is produced. It will be seen that in the coming days that that bulk waste is maintained properly and cleaned by the respective restaurants. Waste at the dumping yard at Alevoor will be cleaned through the bio-mining process and the pot-holes in Udupi city will be repaired and filled within a month. If the issue persists, he requested the public to ensure that such incidents are brought to the notice of the district commissioner so that even the work in those areas will be completed soon. He appreciated the efforts of Udupi city bus employees and said that other city bus employees will be inspired by the move of Udupi city bus employees.

A request was made to the public to use the provided dry waste and raw waste dustbins at the bus stands.
