Udupi: Feel proud to be called Indian first, rather than being called Hindu or Muslim: Baba Ramdev

Udupi, Nov 19: Haridwar Patanjali Yoga Trust, Paryaya Palimar math and Sri Krishna math organized a five-day yoga camp, the third day preached near Rajanganas vehicle parking area, here on November 18 by Baba Ramdev to the children and women on the importance of yoga asanas and their implementation in everyday life.

The women led by Sandhya Pai, editor Tharanga weekly formally began the yoga session by lighting a lamp. Addressing the people who attended the yoga camp, Sandya Pai said, "As days pass on, interest toward yoga is increasing all around the globe. Yoga is used for relaxation by many people. People are using yoga as they wish. Nowadays, yoga which is like an aeroplane is being used as a bullock cart. Yoga must be practiced everyday with proper concentration. It is the medium which connects aatma and paramaatma."

Baba Ramdev addressed the children and the women who took part in the yoga camp and stated that he had given more than 50,000 yoga programmes all over the world, but he was not able to continue the yoga camp for more than three days in any part of the world without any disturbance and commitments. However, in Udupi, by the grace of
Lord Sri Krishna and Swamiji, a five-day yoga programme will be completed. Swamiji said, "Yoga must be our habit. Yoga practice must be done along with the practice of Vedas. It helps the children improve their concentration power and control distractions, thoughts and actions."

He also slammed some of the world's well-known franchises, like Pepsi and Coke stating, "Thanda Matlab toilet cleaner. These soft drinks do not provide any vitamins nor strengthen the muscles but instead, can be used as a toilet cleaner." He also gave some health-related tips to students and women. He was so energetic, active and had not taken any holiday for the past 40 years only because of his yoga practice. "Practising yoga keeps our mind and body healthy," said Ramdev.

Addressing the press after the yoga camp, Ramdev said, "The Muslim personal law board opposed the judgement of the Supreme Court and sent a request for re-examination of the application in Supreme Court. This act might bring some problems and dilemmas in the brotherhood of Hindus and Muslims. The re-examination filed will not delay the construction work of Ram mandir and its neither going to benefit the Muslim personal law to a larger extent. Earlier, Dalits were treated badly by society, but the blame must not be only on Brahmins. As times have changed, people are educated and this segregation has ended. Now, instead of being called Brahmins or Hindus or Muslims people must be proud to be called Indians first and live as brothers in harmony. I believe in facts and logic and completely opposed the statement made by a Dalit leader that Dalits were the natives of India whereas the Brahmins, Kshatriyas and Vaishyas were migrants. This is an ideological terrorism which might disturb the harmony and brotherhood in society."
