Karwar, Nov 18: In a tragic incident which happened near Sunkasala in Uttara Kannada district on Sunday, November 17, a driver lost his life.

The accident happened when a container truck accidentally came in contact with high tension power cables passing above. The deceased was Anand Dundappa Maradi (47).

Maradi was moving towards Hubballi from Ankola. He stopped his vehicle by the roadside to relieve himself. At that time, the top portion of the container came in contact with a high tension power line. When the driver came back and touched the vehicle to board it, the electricity caused fire and Maradi, who suffered severe burn injuries, died on the spot.
