Udupi: Gym assault incident - One man, two minors arrested

Udupi, Nov 15: A complaint is filed by Ramadas Shetty (65), president of Janata Vyayama Shale Doddanagudde near here on November 14, accusing one man and two boys who are in conflict with the law, of trying to stab a boy and kept the burning cigarette on another, who had come to the gym for the usual Anjaneya Pooja that takes place every Thursday.

In the complaint filed by Ramadas, he says, "On November 1 at 7 pm, a boy had arrived at the gym, of which I am the president, for the weekly Anjaneya Pooja that takes place every Thursday in the gym. During this time accused Mohammed Aftab and two boys, who are in conflict with the law, tried to stab the boy who had come for the pooja with a knife and behaved in a manner, which was demeaning to the religious feelings of Hindus.

"In addition, the accused Mohammed Aftab and the two boys, who are in conflict with the law, threw the stone that is kept in the gym, which is used to break the coconut that is used to offer to the deity during the pooja. They also placed the burning cigarette on another boy who had come for the pooja and also threatened both of them."

Based on the complaint filed by Ramadas Shetty, the Udupi city police station personnel have taken accused Mohammed Aftab and the two boys, who are conflict with the law into custody. Police protection is also given near the Janata Vyayama Shale area in Doddanagudde to prevent any untoward incidents.
