Udupi, Nov 15: The annual feast of Mother of Sorrows Church, here was celebrated on November 12 and 13.
Fr Ronald Serrao, rector St Joseph Seminary Jeppu was the chief celebrant for the Eucharistic celebration.
In his homily, Fr Ronald Serrao said, "Mother Mary gave us the founder of missions. Mother Mary is also a missionary. Without the Word of God, our hearts are never lit brightly. Without this we cannot be missionaries. Pope Francis calls everyone of us to be a missionary. Our home is the first place for us to start our mission. We should be a missionary even in our professional life. Missionaries should have strong faith. Mother Mary went to help Elizabeth when Jesus was in her womb. We have a responsibility to keep up the faith till the end. Mother Mary is a model for us in spreading the message of Jesus Christ.
"Missionaries are doing selfless service. If the missionary seeks his own benefits, then the message of Jesus will not be spread. Our attitude should be driven. Mother Mary's life during her missionary work was not easy. She faced everything for the love of God."
