Udupi, Nov 14: The Malpe beach attracts tourists in large numbers not just in season, but also off season like the rainy season. With the increasing number of tourist inflow at the beach it was necessary to look into the necessity, safety and precautionary measures to upgrade the existing precautionary infrastructure.
Hence Mantra Tourism Development Company worked on measures to develop infrastructure keeping in mind safety of tourists.
39 lampposts fitted with lights were installed for illuminating the extended and darker areas of the beach.
It was observed that a few two wheelers were recklessly driving into the area surrounding the Gandhi statue. This was cause of worry, as this was an area around the Gandhi statue and is a bottleneck as it gets crowded thickly due to the movement of people going to and returning from the beach to the designated vehicle parking area.
To counter this issue, five hundred and fifty (550) meter of barricading was installed to regulate the movement of the crowd and cordon off the area in measure to prevent the vehicle movement.
The area surrounding the Gandhi statue and the pathway leading away from it along the walking path was beautified with basic landscaping and decorated with 35 pots) potted plants.
Mantra Tourism Development Company completed all these measures in a budget of Rs 6 lac.
