Puttur: Death by falling tree - Case against four, forest, police departments investigating

Puttur, Nov 13: Relating to an incident in which a worker had died after being crushed by a falling tree, the forest department has registered case of unauthorized tree felling against Raveendra, owner of the land where the tree stood, and three others. The incident had happened at Parcholu near Pambar in Kolthige village near Savanur in the taluk when a tree that was being cut down had fallen on Rafiq Ahmed, a worker.

In an operation led by senior officials of the forest department at Puttur, the tree valued at about ten lac rupees was impounded by the department.

In the meantime, Bellare police said that investigation is in progress relating to the complaint of suspicious death filed by Rekhya, wife of Rafiq Ahmed, relating to his death in the said incident.
