Bengaluru: IT case - HC refuses to entertain criminal review petition of Shivakumar

Bengaluru, Nov 13: The state high court (HC) has quashed the criminal review petition filed by former minister D K Shivakumar and others seeking to drop charges levelled against them by the income tax department with regard to recovery of Rs 8.06 crore in cash in some flats at Delhi reportedly owned by Shivakumar.

Shivakumar and his close ones N Rajendra and Anjaneya Hanumanthayya, had filed this review petition. Presiding officer of the single judge bench of the high court Justice B A Patil, who had concluded hearing in the petition and had reserved the orders, announced the order on Tuesday.

Because of this order, the hearing into this case will resume at the special court for people's representatives here.

The bench came to the conclusion that the complaint filed by the income tax department conforms to the provisions of Income Tax Act and section 120B of Indian Penal Code relating to criminal conspiracy to commit an offence. It observed that the order passed by the court for people's representatives is in order and therefore decided that the case against the accused should be pursued.

    All are with the corrupt free minister be it from congress or from BJP. If anyone loots public money for their own benefit, such person need to punished. We need to start somehere right?

    Yes, It should start somewhere. Then it should proceed without any partiality irrespective of any political party whether Congress or BJP. But what is happening now is the raids done and cases filed against leaders of Congress and Their Allies only. The corruption of BJP leaders are conveniently ignored.

    unless you rebel against the party, party will not take action. Normally, any political party do not take any case of opponents to logical conclusion because it wants to use such case only for publicity purpose. If any party take up corruption cases and put the corrupted person behind bars, even if he/she belongs to opposition, should be supported. None of the politicians are bothered about common man. Why we simply show sympathy to them.

    if we go through last 70 years history, we can understand who is what. don't support any corrupt politician. respect the court verdict. otherwise there is no meaning for democracy.
