Shivamogga, Nov 13: A medical college student who was his final year, died under suspicious circumstances in the city on Tuesday, November 12.
The deceased was Nikhil, a final year student of Subbaiah Medical College here. He had rented a house in Purle village near the city.
Nikhil was at home on Tuesday when the neighbours found smoke coming out of his house. The locals opened the door and found that Nikhil was lying on the ground. They immediately informed Nikhil's friends from the medical college. The friends rushed to the spot, examined, and found that Nikhil was no more.
Personnel of the rural police station here visited the spot, scrutinized the area and registered a case. On the face of it, it appears to be an accidental death caused by an electric short circuit. Postmortem of the body was conducted at the district government hospital here.
At the same time, parents and friends of Nikhil have expressed suspicion about this death. They hope that mystery behind this death would be out after postmortem report is received and a police investigation is completed.
