Bengaluru, Nov 12: A group of seven students, who were scaring the people by wearing ghost costumes and uploading their reaction on YouTube, were arrested after they unknowingly tried to scare undercover policemen.
The incident happened on Sunday. The students donned costumes of zombies and were scaring motorists, pedestrians and people sleeping on footpaths in Bengaluru North.
The group succeeded in scaring many people but the fun ended when they tried to scare two policemen who were dressed as civilians. The officers immediately informed the Soladevanahalli police inspector C B Shivaswamy, who was incidentally patrolling the streets at the time.
The police rushed to the spot, detained the students and their recording equipment. A case has been opened against them at Yashwanthpur police station, said N Shashikumar, deputy commissioner of police (north).
The suspects were identified as Malik, Naveed, Saqib, Syed Nabeel, Yusuf Ahmed, Mohammed Aqib, all 20, and Sajil Mohammed, 21. Aqib is from Nagawara while the rest are from RT Nagar, police said.
However, as they were students, they were released on bail with a warning not to repeat such incidents.
