Bengaluru, Nov 12: Now it seems to be the turn of former minister and leader of Congress K J George to face the heat of Enforcement Directorate (ED). The ED has registered a case against him and undertaken investigation.
ED has registered a case against K J George under the FERA (Foreign Exchange Regulation Act) Act. The case is registered based on the complaint that former minister has huge illegal properties in overseas countries.
Ravi Krishna Reddy, president of Karnataka Rashtra Samiti (KRS) had given a complaint to the ED against K J George. In his complaint Reddy had mentioned that K J George had amassed huge amount of illegal property in foreign countries when he was the minister.
Joint director of ED Raman Gupta said that the case registered against K J George is in the investigation stage. The ED has already gathered the property declaration details given by K J George from 1985 to 2019 to the Lokayukta. The officials will be conducting their investigation based on this data.
In his complaint to the ED, Ravi Krishna Reddy has given the details of the property that K J George owns at Lafayette Street of Manhattan in New York. Ravi Krishna Reddy also mentioned that Renita Abraham and Kevin Abraham, daughter and son-in-law of K J George live in New York.
Reacting to the case registered by ED, George said, "I have declared my property details with the Election Commission as well as Lokayukta. I am ready to give explanation even if ED asks for the same."
