Udupi, Aug 17: “Married couples should avoid seeking divorce from the court over silly marital issues if they genuinely love each other”, said K P Acharya, correspondent, Kaup Sri Vidyaniketan Group of Educational Institutions.
Acharya was speaking at the inaugural of a reality show for couples held at SVS Pre-university College, Katpady, on Sunday August 16. It was organized by Pratam Entertainment, Katpady, and Udupi TV channel.
Former state minister Vasant V Salian said that the show had emerged as a talent show for couples.
Zilla panchayat president Gerald Fernandes said that the reality show had unraveled several issues that couples had difficulty understanding.
Katpady entrepreneur Habibulla Saheb, Prof V K Udyavar, B Pundalik Marate, Dhaneshwari Mangalore, Big FM Radio jockey Avinash Mangalore, Professor Sujata Shetty Perinje, Katpady Rotaract Club president Prasanna Shetty, programme organizer Nagesh Kamath Katpady, Uday Kumar Katpady, and Santosh Shetty Panjimar were present on the occasion.
Journalist Prakash Suvarna Katpady welcomed.
“Married bliss is certain for those couples who understand each other and determine to make their marriage work. The divorce rates will decline if wedded couples make efforts to solve their marital issues within the confines of their bedroom”, said lawyer Mattar Ratnakar Hegde.
Hegde was speaking at the prize distribution ceremony of the show on Sunday.
Udupi TV channel proprietor Francis D’Sa and Hebri Uday Kumar Shetty were the chief guests on the occasion.
Guruprasad couple from Udupi bagged the first prize and Yashodar-Mamata Shetty couple bagged the second prize.
Twenty couples of various ages participated in the various competitions that were part of the show. All of them danced to the music of Bollywood hit songs and also shared their experiences on the occasion.
The elderly couples showed enthusiasm that equalled that of the younger couples. All the couples put up stellar performances and the viewers gave them standing ovations.
