Bengaluru, Nov 12: Former minister, D K Shivakumar, has evinced interest in entering into an understanding or alliance with the JD(S) for the bypoll in order to inflict crushing defeat on people who deserted the party. He also has taken up this matter with the high command.
Shivakumar has pointed out that out of 15 constituencies, seven are located in Mysuru region where Vokkaligas have prominence. He has analysed that if the Congress and JD(S) fight elections here, it will benefit the BJP. Therefore he feels that entering into understanding with the JD(S) would prove beneficial for his party.
D K Shivakumar had sent this message for H D Deve Gowda and H D Kumaraswamy too but both these leaders reportedly said that they are not interested in any state level talks and that the matter would be examined if the proposal comes from the high command.
Shivakumar feels that like the Congress, the JD(S) suffers from absence of able candidates in certain constituencies. Therefore he feels that JD (S) can be allowed to field candidates in four constituencies and Congress can draw support from it in the remaining constituencies. Now he has taken up the issue with the top leadership of the party.
As far as Siddaramaiah and Dinesh Gundu Rao are concerned, JD(S) leaders treat them as ardent enemies. Therefore, national leaderships can issue instructions and dictate to these leaders what should be done.
Another line of thinking of Shivakumar is that if the Congress maintains distance from the JD(S), leaders of that party might inch closer to the BJP, and the saffron party might flourish. There is also a glimmer of hope that if the BJP wins very less seats, the JD(S) and Congress can again come together and form the government.
