Media Release

Udupi, Nov 11: Rotary club Manipal Town has arranged a fund raiser cultural event ‘Navachetana’ for the benefit of child cancer patients of Kasturba Hospital Manipal on November 18th, Monday 5:00 PM onwards at KMC Greens, Manipal. The theme of the cultural event is ‘Child Cancer is Curable-Let’s Connect to Cure’.

The incidence of cancer is raising in our country in all age groups. In India, around 50,000 children are presently getting diagnosed with cancer every year. Compared to adults, cancers in children are extremely curable with more than 80 % chances of cure. On an average, the cost of treating every such child is approx. ?. 3, 00,000 which is not affordable to majority of the patients. Therefore many families are not able to provide treatment to their children with cancer due to financial issues.

Kasturba Medical College, Manipal has a division of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology with state-of-the-art inpatient ward for managing children with cancer along with facilities for outpatient day care chemotherapy headed by doctors trained in well reputed hospitals.
