Mangaluru, Nov 9: While Mangaluru is gearing up for Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) elections, scheduled to be held on November 12, all candidates along with their party members are seen campaigning in their respective wards.
In Bendur (ward 38), two time corporator Naveen D’Souza has got a ticket yet again to contest in the upcoming MCC election.
According to him, the party gave him the ticket after surveying the developmental work he has taken up in the ward in his previous two terms. Also, majority of the party members and non-party members suggested Naveen’s name to run another term as corporator.
“I have full confidence on the voters of my ward. They have closely examined the developmental work that has taken place in the ward and backed me at all times. I succeeded in bringing maximum funds to my ward and have a record of initiating and completing several developmental works. I guarantee that the voters will elect me again for more development,” he says.
According to Naveen, developmental works taken-up by him such as road widening works on SCS hospital road, Athena Hospital Lane, near Sanjeevini apartments, water drain works in all major areas, footpath construction in Lobo Lane, Balmatta new road, near Kumar International to Krishna Garage, St Agnes Special School to Bendoorwell circle will convert into votes. “People will also vote for me as I have taken up drain and water pipeline repairs and looked into concretization of AR D’Souza Lane, inner areas of Aruna Nursery, Vas Lane, Manasa apartment in Lobo Lane and Millennium Tower. Upgrading the Arya Samaj Road, RCC culverts, installing LED street lights in major areas, interlock and water pipelines are other developmental works taken up by me in my last tenure,” he adds.
Construction of mini bridge in Bendur, construction of new drainage and repair of existing drainage, removal of dustbins are also listed as Naveen’s achievements in his last tenure.
Same time, Naveen D’Souza has already chalked out a clear plan on the work he intends to take up if re-elected as a corporator. “Some projects are ongoing and yet to be completed and some others are approved,” he adds.
“Hi-Tech Market in Kankanady at the cost of Rs 41 crore is my dream project and resolution has been passed for it in the monthly council meeting. State Government approval is obtained for same and traders in the market are currently being shifted temporarily. SCS Hospital to Kudkorigudde drainage line is another important work that has to be done. The project plan is already submitted to corporation and approval is expected. Kankanady Circle Ivory Junction road widening work has already started and it will be completed soon. Same time, widening the road in Vas Lane at the cost 80 lacs will be started soon. LED streetlights will be installed in all streets of the ward. Balmatta New Road upgradation work will also be undertaken soon, “he informs.

A person of soft spoken nature, people recognize him as a Good Samaritan for the social service he does. Being a good leader, he has achieved heights in his political career and currently he is serving his party as a state general secretary.
The party is confident that Naveen D’Souza will taste victory and the voters of his ward will never let him down.
