Mangaluru, Nov 9: The second additional district and sessions court, which also is a special court for cases under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, handed down ten years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) to Muhammed Ashraf alias Ashraf (38) from Amblamogaru Belma Renjady, who was accused of engaging in unnatural sex with a minor boy three years ago in the same village.
This incident had happened on July 13, 2016, and a case had been registered in Ullal police station. Judge of the court, who conducted hearing, had come to the conclusion that the accused was guilty of the charges levelled against him. She announced the quantum of punishment on Thursday.
Ten years of rigorous imprisonment was announced under section 377 of Indian Penal Code and section 6 of POCSO Act. A fine of Rs 5,000 also has been imposed, out of which Rs 3,000 has to be disbursed to the affected boy. The judge said that the boy is also eligible for suitable compensation through the district legal services authority.
