Udupi, Aug 16 (DHNS): Former Minister and KPCC Executive Committee member Vasanth Salian alleged that the State government is not taking adequate measures to check the rampant spread of A(H1N1) influenza.
Speaking to the media persons here, Salian said that more than 97 swine flu cases were detected in the State. However, the State government is least bothered about the rampant spread of the disease, he added.
The Centre has taken appropriate measures to restrain the increasing fatalities. The State government should make arrangements for students to undergo voluntary test for A(H1N1) in all schools and colleges, he urged.
There are about 1.71 lakh primary and high school students and as many as 26,658 PU College students in Udupi district. Parents are worried about the health of their children, as five cases of A(H1N1) were already confirmed in the district.
“The government should take necessary precautionary and preventive measures,” he demanded.
Congress leaders Moinudeen Bava and Dinesh Kotyan were present.
