Mangaluru, Nov 8: Derik’s Chess School proudly announces their chess champ talents who have been selected to participate in the School Games Federation of India (SGFI)‘s National School Chess championship:
Srujuna C Bhandary of SVS English School, Vidyagiri, Bantwal scored 7 points in 9 rounds in the under 17 girls category in the state school chess championship held at Shivamogga from October 21 to 24 and secured fifth place to qualify for the SGFI nationals.
Shanvi S Ballal of Christ King School, Karkala scored 7 points in 9 rounds in under 14 girls category and secured fifth place in the state school chess championship to qualify for nationals.
By winning Vidya Bharati Nationals held at Kurukshetra from September 26 to 29, Derik’s Chess School talents, Shreeka S Hegde and Pavana Prasad (both from Sharada Vidyalaya) are selected to represent Vidya Bharti in the SGFI nationals in under 14 girls category.
In under 19 girls category, another Derik’s Chess School talent, Chaithra R Rao of Sharada Vidyalaya won the berth for SGFI nationals by notching up her victory in Vidya Bharti national championship.
Derik’s Chess School founder administrator, Derik Pinto has congratulated the performers and wished them success in the upcoming national championships.
