Mangaluru: FMMCH-RHTC sub-centre inaugurated at Porkodi Bajpe

Mangaluru, Nov 7: The Father Muller Medical College Hospital (FMMCH) in its mission to provide healthcare service to its people opened a sub-centre of FMCH-RHTC which was inaugrated at the Porkodi Samudaya Bhavan, Ambedkar Bhavan of Malavoor gram panchayat on November 6.

The sub-center has been a need in the region with a large number of residential population of 6000 who are mainly aged.

The inaugural witnessed the presence of PDO Venkatramana Prakas, president (Malavoor GP) Ganesh Arbhi, vice-president, Vanaja B Shetty (Malavoor GP), Mahila Mandal president, Nalini G Shetty. The chief guests for the inaugural were the director of the Father Muller Charitable Institutions, Fr Richard A Coelho and Fr Ajith Menezes, administrator FMMC.



The PDO welcomed the gathering thanking Father Muller Charitable Institution for taking a step in providing health for the residents. Fr Richard talked on essentiality of health in overall wellness of life. Dr Jessy Maria Dsouza RMO, FMCH-RHTC, briefed the audience regarding the importance of health at various stages in life whilst Fr Ajith Menezes explained the availability of the facilities of sub-centre, Bajpe FMCH-RHTC centre and Father Muller Medical College Hospital, Mangaluru. Ganesh Arbhi president of Malavoor panchayat gave his presidential speech highlighting the works of the panchayat in providing overall development of its population.

This step of setting a once a week (Tuesday) center, 4.5 km distance from the Father Muller Salvadore Monteiro Rural Health Training Center at Bajpe, Porkodi was due to the residence need for primary health care. With a population of 6000 who are mainly aged, the sub-center provides primary care and first aid with referral to FMCH-RHTC centre and Father Muller Medical College Hospital, Mangalore. Basic check like blood pressure, blood glucose check and primary check up are provided with medicines. A team of doctors and allied health staff will be deputed at the center for the same.

The setting up of the center will also initiate public awareness campains by the students and health workers of the Bajpe center in personel hygiene, garbage disposal, infant health care and environmental health.

Dr Sourabh Kumar, assistant professor community Medicine and Sr Jacintha, principal, Father Muller College of Nursing were also present.
