Mangalore: Two Suspected Swine Flu Cases test Positive in Udupi: No Fresh Case in DK

Mangalore, Aug 14: Manipal, from where a couple of suspected swine flu cases were emerging on a daily basis since the last few days, went event-free on Thursday August 13. At the same time, two patients, who had been admitted into the hospital with swine flu symptoms on August 12, have tested positive. All the swine flu patients being treated in the hospital are responding well to the treatment.
Out of the eight suspected cases from Udupi district, five have been confirmed so far. The test reports of a student of Manipal Institute of Technology and a lady from Bangalore, who had got admitted to the hospital with swine flu symptoms on Wednesday, are yet to be received, while the other patient has tested negative. The earliest two patients, who got admitted for treatment, might be discharged in a couple of days, but one of them may be retained in the hospital for a few days for attending to his other health complications, outgoing district health officer(DHO) Dr M R Nayak, new DHO Dr Ramachandra Bairy and district survey officer Dr Rohini said.
No fresh cases were reported from Dakshina Kannada district on Thursday. All the suspected swine flu patients reported on Wednesday, have tested negative. So far, a total of 31 suspected cases had been reported, out of which, five out of the seven confirmed swine flue patients have already been treated and discharged from the hospitals.
