Goa: Procurement of electric buses for KTC gets delayed

Daijiworld Media Network - Panaji (SR)

Panaji, Nov 6: The procurement of electric buses for Kadamba Transport Corporation Ltd (KTC) has got delayed due to an increased demand for these vehicles at the central government level.

Earlier, KTC chairman Carlos Almeida had announced that the operation of electric buses in Goa was expected to commence by November, however, now the procurement process itself has been postponed to December.

“As per the Central government, we should place the order by December 15. They have postponed the date, earlier set for November 15, to next month. We speculate that there may have been requests from state transport undertakings (STUs) of bigger cities for the procurement of electric buses. The process may not be completed by November 15 owing to which they may have postponed it to December 15,” said KTC general manager, Sanjay Ghate, as reported in TOI.

KTC had also requested for 250 electric buses in July under the scheme and has received permission to procure 50 e-buses.
