Karwar, Nov 6: A person accused of booking Tatkal railway e-tickets in advance and selling them for a higher price, was found guilty by the court. In addition to imposing fine of Rs 5,000 on him, the court asked Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) to block the man's booking ID.
The man found guilty in the case happens to be Abdul Nazeer Ibrahim Sheikh, who owns Fast Travels firm in the town.
Railway Protection Force (RPF) police inspector general had received a complaint about the said firm selling Railway Tatkal e-tickets for a higher price. The local RPF was asked to look into the matter. The staff thereafter kept n eye on the dealings of Fast Travels having its office at Green Street here since some time. Later, a raid was conducted with the support of the local police during which it was found that the firm was engaged in booking Tatkal e-tickets and selling them for a higher amount. 33 such tickets were found in the shop during the raid. The police had taken into possession a computer, cellphone, dongle, printer, and Rs 1,020 in cash apart from some dairies during the raid, and the accused was produced in the court.
