Mangalore, Aug 13: Natyavandana, a Bhratanatyam programme of Anjali K and Ranjani K, disciples and daughters of dance teacher, vidwan K Chandrashekar Navada of Natyanjali will be held at the Town Hall here on Sunday August 16 at 5.30 pm.
The dancers, Anjali and Ranjani have been receiving their training in the dance form by Navada and also have been guided by Navada’s guru Ullal Mohan Kumar, director of Natyaniketan, Kotekar and dance veteran of the region. As part of the event, Guruvandana, a felicitation programme for Mohan Kumar has been organized.
At the felicitation ceremony, scholar and critic Dr M Prabhakar Joshi will preside, whereas MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik along with Nrityakalamandiram, Bangalore director B Bhanumathi will be the chief guest.
Both Anjali and Ranjani have performed at dance programmes all over India. While Anjali has performed in England and conducted various dance workshops there, Ranjani has conducted workshops in states of Tamilnadu and Kerala. While Anjali, a BCA student at BMS College in Bangalore has passed her vidwat state examination, Ranjani has completed her senior examination and is the second year pre-university student at Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal. Both Anjali and Ranjani have been pursuing Kuchipudi dance form from Kuchipudi exponent vidushi Vyjayanti Kashi, Bangalore and Carnatic music from guru, vidwan M Narayan.
