Mangaluru, Nov 4: “Stringent action will be taken against those who violate the party’s discipline,” said District Congress president Harish Kumar.

Addressing media here on Monday, November 4, Harish further said, "We have requested Congress leaders, who are not authorized candidates of the party, but have filed nominations, to withdraw their candidature. Action will be taken against everyone, who ignores our notifications and contests against the official Congress candidates, for anti-party activities.

"All 60 authorized candidates have filed their nominations for the MCC elections which will be held on November 12. We have considered the candidates of respective wards by taking the opinions. In few wards, there were many aspirants, who have showed their disappointment but we were able to convince them. Congress party is the favourite to win the MCC elections. A former corporator of Congress is now contesting from BJP. Other than that no one has resigned from the party.

“We condemn the assault on former MLA Mohiuddin Bava and action is already taken against the accused as per the law,” said Harish Kumar.

Congress leaders Sadashiv Ullal, Mustafa, Abbas Ali and others were present.
