Mangalore, Aug 13: Out of the six people, who had been admitted into Manipal Hospital with swine flu symptoms so far, presence of H1N1 virus has been confirmed in five cases. The fifth person who tested positive for this disease, is also a student of Manipal Institute of Technology Manipal. In the case of a woman who got admitted on the night of Tuesday August 11, negative report has been received.
In the meanwhile, four more suspected swine flu cases were reported from Dakshina Kannada (DK) district, taking the total such cases so far, to 31. Out of the five cases referred on Tuesday, four persons were cleared, while the other NRI student tested positive. The district so far, has seven confirmed swine flu cases. The health department said that 700 students of NITK Suratkal were tested for the presence of swine flu virus and all of them tested negative.
The lone case referred on Wednesday in Udupi district, was a twenty six year old lady from Bangalore, a student of hospital management course in Shivashankar Mallige Hospital there. She had come to Manipal a couple of days ago for an interview, and as she reported body pain, she was admitted into the hospital. Her test report is awaited.
