Mangalore, Aug 12: MBBS course-2009-10 was inaugurated at Fr Muller Medical College at a programme, Dawn- a new day begins in conference hall of the institution here on Wednesday, August 12.
Mayor Shankar Bhat speaking after the inaugural said that the doctors of the future need to gear up to face challenges in the ever-changing world of today. They should be all set to take up special responsibilities, he said adding that the villages in India have been facing shortage of doctors and there is a need for more doctors at the public health centers here in order provide common man with necessary medical facility. Increasing population is another area for concern which will mean that extra emphasis needs to be laid on healthcare.
Fr Muller Medical College administrator Fr Denis D’Sa said that the students have greater task ahead of them with the commercialization of the healthcare and other sectors in the society. Despite all the commercialization D’Sa called on the doctors to prioritize service to the poor.
Fr Muller Charitable Institutions administrator Fr Patrick Rodrigues presided. Speaking on the occasion, he said that students should achieve the key to the profession while studying. One should never forget the motto of education and also bear in mind the purpose of gaining education.
Fr Muller College Hospital administrator Fr Stany Tauro and chief medical officer Dr Sanjeeva Rai were present. FMMC Dean Dr Jayaprakash Alva delivered the vote of thanks.
