Bengaluru, Nov 4: A Nigerian national who was infuriated after his friend from his country slapped him on his cheek, attacked him with a knife and killed him. This incident happened in the early hours on Sunday November 3 within the limits of Hennur police station here.
The deceased as Marode (35). The killer, Samuel (30) has been arrested by the personnel of Hennur police station.
Marode had come here on student visa. Even after the conclusion of his studies, he continued to stay here. Samuel too was on a student visa. Both were residing in different houses in Janakiram Layout in the city. As they both shared the same nationality, they had joined for food often.
At 4 pm on Saturday both had come together at a food joint, 'Kitchen Centre'. On some silly reason, they exchanged heated words there. Marode, in a fit of rage, slapped Samuel, it is said. Some others who were with the two, had cooled their tempers and succeeded in sending them away.
Samuel, who could not take the slap kindly, was seething with anger. At about 4 am on Sunday, he reached the house of Marode, stabbed him with a knife, and fled. A visa and passport were found in the possession of Samuel. Murdered Marode's passport too has been recovered, the police said, adding that they are scrutinizing them.
Central crime branch police had recently unearthed a drug cartel run by Nigerians staying at various places including Ramamurthynagar and Hennur. A large number of African citizens reside within the limits of K R Pura police station. After the regional foreigners’ registration officer complained about many African citizens overstaying their visa terms, the police had undertaken operation. Twenty-five persons from Uganda and Nigeria had been taken into custody and their documents were verified. Seven Nigerians were arrested for staying here beyond the visa periods. They also had recovered cocaine and drugs valued at lac of rupees from them. City police commissioner Bhaskar Rao, had said that African citizens not in possession authorized documents and also those who rented out houses to them would be acted upon.
