Chikkamagaluru, Nov 4: The statement made by C T Ravi, minister for Kannada and cultural department that there is no tradition of hoisting Kannada flag along with national flag during the Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations has created a huge controversy throughout the state.
Speaking in a press conference on Friday, November 2, minister C T Ravi had said, "In the constitution of our country there is a principle of one flag and one ideal. There is Kannada flag as the identity of Kannadigas. There is no evidence of hoisting the Kannada flag in the history of unification of Karnataka. However, the people of Karnataka have taken the Kannada flag as their identity of existence."
These words of C T Ravi went viral on the news as well as print media. The statement of the minister has turned so serious that the director of Kannada and Cultural department has been asked to produce the copy of the statement that is published in the newspapers.
The pro-Kannada organizations held a protest against the statement of the minister at Chikkamagaluru on Saturday and said, "The statement made by the minister shows that he does not respect the land, water, language and culture of Kannada."
