Mangaluru: Salu Marada Timmakka celebrates Rajyotsava with MRPL

Mangaluru, Nov 2: ‘Vrikshamathe’ fame veteran environmentalist Salumarada Timmakka joined hands with Green Refinery of Krnataka Coast MRPL to celebrate Karnataka Rajyotsava.

Led by managing director Venkatesh M and director refinery M Vinay Kumar, MRPL family gathered in large numbers to plant saplings and celebrate the cultural vibrancy of Karnataka.

More than 500 members of MRPL family first did a Kannada cultural procession amidst the green environs of the MRPL colony. A tree planting programme was held along with the celebrated guest. The event was organised by MRPL employees club. Sanjay Verma GGM I/C refinery and government college lecturer R Drga were present.

Speaking affectionately to the MRPL family, Timmakka expressed her joy to see the enthusiasm of the people about greenery and was happy to see large trees in MRPL campus. She advised people to keep planting trees of all forms during their life time and contributes to the nature.

M Venkatesh opined that legends like Timmakka represent alternate knowledge that needs to be acquired by all of us. He opined that though she has not gone to school or college she has learnt meaning of life by being one with nature and finding the meaning of life through her contribution to the people and nature around her.
