Mangaluru, Nov 1: Expert College, here observed Deepavali celebration with a difference by celebrating it with kids of Prajna Chinnara Thangudhama, in the city on the evening of October 31 at Kootakkala hall of Sri Bhagavathi Temple, Kodialbail, here.
Speaking on the occasion, Ankush Nayak, director of Information Technology, Expert Group of Institutions said, “Deepavali is a very diverse and secular festival irrespective of the religion one follows. Deepavali is the symbol of moving toward knowledge from ignorance. We must be compassionate to everyone especially to the less privileged ones and those who deserve better."
Music composer and trustee of the college, Ustad Rafique Khan, chief guest of the day wished everyone a very happy and prosperous Deepavali. Expert had the honour of felicitating him on being conferred the very prestigious SURER GURU Pt Jasraj Puraskar, 2019 on the occasion.
The sweet little kids of Prajna Chinnara Thangudhama added sparkle to the celebration through their cultural programmes. The staff and students of Expert College raised an amount of Rs 15,000 from the various items prepared by the kids of Prajna which were put up on sale. The cheque was handed over to Prof Hilda Rayappan. Children were given gifts as a symbol of goodwill gesture. Prof Hilda Rayappan also took the opportunity to express her gratitude for celebrating Deepavali in a unique and special way.
The rampwalk, ‘Samskriti-Sampada‘, Dandiya and Goodudeepa making competitions were held for the students. The dignitaries gave away prizes to the winners. Zita D’Souza, HOD of English introduced the chief guest and announced the prize winners. The students Kishan, Shreya and Poornima welcomed the guests and compered the programme. Rajitha spoke on the theme of Deepavali. The programme was followed by fireworks and a sumptuous dinner.
Deepika A. Nayak, Shobha Nayak, Manjunath, founder and managing director of Prajna Chinnara Thangudhama- Prof Hilda Rayappan, Yogaguru Gopalakrishna Delampady, Prof Ramachandra Bhat- Principal of the college and the programme director, Sreevidya were also present on the dais.
