Kundapur, Oct 29: An auto-rickshaw driver who drove his vehicle towards his residence in Huliyadi, Hangaluru ignoring the orders of police officer to stop, threatened and attempted to assault the officer, let out his pet dog to bite police officer on his leg, was acquitted by court. The driver is identified as Pradeep Kumar Sherigar.
Letting out dog to bite is punishable under IPC 289. There was curiosity in the case as the dog bit a police officer. Seven witnesses including the doctor who treated the wounded police officer were questioned in the court.
The court opined that the photo of the dog produced in the court appears to be that of a street dog and not pet dog and acquitted the driver. Advocate Ravikiran Murdeshwar argued in favour of suspect Pradeep Sherigar.
