Mangaluru, Oct 28: Former Karnataka Lokayukta, Justice Santhosh Hegde, pointed out that in the past, people who were jailed used to be boycotted by the society.
He said he has been surprised at grand welcome being extended to people who are jailed.
"We seem to be living in a situation that is most corrupt. People who were jailed are posing as if they had done nothing wrong, and exulting at what they did. What does this signify to the society? How far are people right in eulogizing corrupt people?” he said.
“There is nothing wrong in honouring people who contribute to the society and those who cherish high values. I wonder what direction is our society moving and what message we are giving," he wondered.
