Mangaluru, Oct 27: More details are being unearthed in the case of the ghastly murder of Fiona Cutinho, whose skeleton was found in the forest behind her home. It is learnt the alleged killer Samson, Fiona's real brother, had failed in the engineering exams and was addicted to mobile. He used to spend most of his time at home itself. The police are of the opinion that he must have killed his sibling Fiona thinking that the parents are giving more encouragement to his younger sister than him.
The decomposed skeleton of Fiona Swedal Cutinho (16), who was missing since the last 18 days, was found in the forest behind their house at Kambalapadavu at Pajir village near Ullal. The police have confirmed that her elder brother Samson (18) himself had murdered her and threw her body in the forest.
Fiona is the daughter of Francis Cutinho, a resident of Pajir village and was studying in first PU of St Agnes College in the city. The parents of Fiona had filed a missing complaint in Konaje police station on October 9, saying that, Fiona, who had been to Mangaluru city on October 8 had not returned to her home. The residents of Mudipu had submitted an appeal to the city police commissioner urging him to investigate the matter as Fiona was not found even after 15 days.
When the police investigated the matter, the last network location of mobile of deceased Fiona was showing Mudipu as the area. The police, based on this clue, interrogated the family members intensely. When the police subjected Samson Cutinho, brother of Fiona Cutinho to more interrogation on Saturday, October 26, he confessed to the crime and confirmed with the police that he had killed her and threw her body in the forest behind their house.
Hair, teeth, certain parts of the skeleton of Fiona and her mobile were found in the forest, when the police searched the same on the night of Saturday, October 26, based on the confession of Samson. As it was midnight on Saturday, the police have decided to continue the search operation for more clues and evidence on Sunday, October 27. Police have cordoned off the area of the forest where the skeleton of Fiona was found.
Samson has confessed that he killed his sister at home, when the parents were away for some silly reason by bludgeoning her head with hammer. Police have confiscated the hammer with which Samson killed his sister Fiona.
