Udupi, Oct 26: Giving his response to by-poll in Karnataka, deputy chief minister (DCM), Ashwath Narayan, said that his party is confident of winning all the 15 seats. "We are positive about annexing all the assembly seats where the by-poll would be held. Our opponent parties have lost their very existence. They have been facing internal bickering within those parties. People can easily find the difference between our rule and the period when the coalition government was in power. They are just involved with breaking the society," he added.
The DCM was addressing a press meet at the BJP office at Kadiyali here on Friday, October 25.
He charged the other political parties in the state of whiling away time by issuing statements that are far from truth, instead of working as constructive opposition.
"No undue importance needs to be attached to the release of former minister, D K Shivakumar, on bail. He could not save his government. Unnecessary hype is being created by projecting rats as tigers. Do you think those who could not perform anywhere else will be successful in the by-poll? People are frustrated at corruption. It is impossible to build a society which supports corruption. It is not right to seek protection on the basis of one's caste. His projection is far from reality," Ashwath Narayan opined.
He said that after the BJP government took over rule, new policies and transparent systems have been envisaged and the government is taking steps in that direction. It would take about a year or two to change the established systems, he added. BJP is committed to provide efficient administration and build a strong society, he explained.
The DCM claimed that the current government has reached every house that is affected by floods, but admitted that there are challenges to be met in respect of rehabilitation. "No one can change the established systems overnight. We have already sanctioned enough funds and transferred to accounts of respective deputy commissioners," he explained.
Ashwath Narayan said that as per Natural Disaster Response Force policy, only Rs 96,000 was being disbursed in the past for total destruction of houses. "This amount has now been raised to five lac rupees. Even for partial destruction, we are providing relief amount of one lac rupees. Funds have also been released for fast-paced repair of damaged schools and colleges," he narrated.
In the matter of issuing party tickets to disqualified legislators, Dr Ashwath hailed these MLAs as being involved with engineering the collapse of a bad coalition government. "They have contributed to the protection of the society, and brought about a sea change in the society. Those who have done good deeds need to be hailed and respected. They have not joined our party. Our party will take a decision about them in future. As the matter is in the court now, I cannot say anything more on the issue now," he responded.
MLA, Raghupati Bhat, BJP district president, Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde, MLA, Lalaji R Mendon, Naveen Kumar Kutyar, in-charge of Mangaluru block, Uday Kumar Shetty, general secretary, Yashlpal Suvarna, and several others were present.
