Ministers Joshi, Shettar convene meeting on ‘Invest Karnataka- Hubballi conference'

Bengaluru, Oct 26: Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Coal and Mines, Prahlad Joshi and Karnataka’s Large and Medium Industries Minister Jagadish Shettar convened a preliminary meeting to discuss ‘Invest Karnataka- Hubballi conference’ scheduled to be held in January 17, 2020.

Speaking at the meeting, Prahlad Joshi said North Karnataka has an ideal environment for investments and to kick start new businesses. This, he said, will be enabled with skill development training.

With a new airport being introduced, the region is being strengthened further to attract investors to the region. Keeping this in mind, ‘Invest Karnataka Hubballi’ is being organised in Hubballi, he said.

Jagadish Shettar, who was a former Chief Minister, said skill development centres in Hubballi, Belagavi and Raichur will help the youth from the region to with vocational training and thereby job opportunities.

Providing them job guarantee along with training will eliminate unemployment issues, he said.

He suggested the officials to conduct a research to determine Hubballi is conducive to which sector. It is essential to collate opinions regarding setting up defence and industrial manufacturing units in the region, he added.

Gaurav Gupta, Principal Secretary, Commerce and Industries, said roadshows will be organised in Hyderabad, Mumbai, Karnataka from November to January, as part of Invest Karnataka Hubballi.

‘Invest Karnataka Hubballi’ aims to attract more than 500 investors. Sessions and seminars on various sectors will be conducted as part of the meet, he added.
