Bengaluru, Oct 24: A KSRTC driver, who had developed illicit relationship with a woman and had killed her, stands arrested. The arrest was made by the police personnel of Sanjay Nagar police station here.
The arrested KSRTC driver has been identified as Laxminarayan (38), working in Bagepalli depot of the corporation.
Laxminarayan was earlier working in the city. During that period, he had got introduced to Gowramma (40) from Geddalahalli, who used to frequently travel in his bus. Gowramma had abandoned her husband and was living at Geddalahalli alone. She was working as housemaid for a living. The friendship soon turned into mutual relationship.
Laxminarayan used to visit Gowramma at her home often. On the night of October 1, the two fought on some issue, at the end of which Laxminarayan smothered Gowramma to death, locked the house from the outside and left.
After foul smell emanated from the house after a few days, the people living in the neighbourhood complained to Sanjay Nagar police. The police who broke open the door, sent the decomposed body of Gowramma for postmortem. The post-mortem revealed that she was smothered to death.
The police who took up probe, succeeded in arresting Laxminarayan after some days, said deputy commissioner of police (DCP - north), Shashikumar. It is learnt that Laxminarayan was already married and had illicit relationship with Gowramma. The DCP said that the accused has confessed to his crime. It is also gathered that when hiring a house within Sanjay Nagar station limits, the two had claimed themselves to be brother and sister. When Laxminarayan was in need of funds, Gowramma had pledged her ornaments and given him Rs 25,000 and had collected his bracelet as security. It is said that the arguments were over non-clearance of this gold loan, which ended in murder.
