Kaup, Oct 24: An unidentified man forcibly dragged away a lone woman walking by the road towards her home. He attempted to take her behind the bushes nearby and rape her there. This incident happened at Katapadi Agrahara on the night of Tuesday, October 22.
A local woman from Katapadi working at Udupi went through this traumatic experience. When she was walking towards her home after work, a stranger approached her from behind and tightened his grip around her mouth to make sure she did not shout for help. He then dragged her near the bushes in a vacant spot next to the road where he tried to rape her, reports said.
The woman struggled hard to get out of his clutches, and shouted for help when she succeeded in temporarily wriggling out of the man's grip. A woman living in a nearby house came running to her rescue. At this, the unidentified person took advantage of dark conditions and made good his escape.
The locals went searching for the man but failed to find him. Kaup police circle inspector, Mahesh Prasad, who reached the spot upon learning about it, conducted verification along with Kaup police sub-inspector, Rajashekhar B Saganur.
A case in this regard was registered in Kaup police station. Investigation is in progress.
