Bengaluru, Oct 23: It has been revealed that some land records were modified without authorization by using Kaveri software in the office of the deputy inspector general at the stamps and registration department located at Kandaya Bhavan in the city.
It has been observed that the agreement to sell land was treated as sale deed. In certain cases, even when there were encumbrances noted in the Khata and original documents, in the registration documents, the same was shown as nil encumbrance. Likewise, there is a possibility of a number of documents having been modified without authorization, it is said.
IAS officer Dr K V Trilok Chandra, deputy inspector general in the department, got his complaint filed in cybercrime police department, on the basis of which investigation has begun. The officer said in his complaint that it was observed that some employees in his office, without the notice of senior officers, had changed documents by using 'Kaveri' software, which resulted in loss to the exchequer to the extent of several crores of rupees.
Central crime branch joint police commissioner, Sandeep Patil, said that his department has come to know of the irregularities which have happened in the revenue office. He said that it is possible to get certain documents registered through the said software, but for making changes, certain rules have to be followed and senior officers need to approve the changes. He said that some employees of the office have made unauthorized changes and that investigation is continuing.
