Mangaluru: Leopard enters cattle shed, devours calf

Mangaluru, Oct 23: In an incident which happened during the early hours of Tuesday October 22, a leopard entered a cattle shed at Hunsekatte near Yekkar and attacked a calf that was tethered inside the shed.

The calf was owned by Mary D'Souza, residing near Shibarur Road, Yekkar. The family members were deep asleep. Mary said that the leopard entered the cattle shed, killed the calf, and ate up about half the body at around 1 am on Tuesday. She said that on hearing the frantic moos of her cow, the family members rushed out and saw that a leopard was carrying a portion of the calf's body.

Some locals said that a leopard was sighted a few times in some places near Yekkar Padavu since the last some months.
