Mangalore, Aug 1: Mangalore Elctric Supply Company (Mescom) has woken up to the gravity of the situation arising out of non-payment of bills. Mounting overdues have affected the functioning of Mescom.
As the local taluk office failed to pay up the electricity bills for the last three months, Mescom severed power connection of the office on Friday July 31. It is learnt, a sum of about Rs 97,000 was due to paid by the taluk office.
At around 9 am on Friday, Mescom personnel cut off the power connection to the taluk office. It was then the turn of the officials in the taluk office to wake up to the grim reality, after they were forced to work without lights and fans. After the bill was paid, power supply was restored to the office in the evening.
