Mangalore, Aug 1: The people have noted, that every day, a number of ore laden trucks stranded on either side of the twin-districts just disappear. People have observed several ore trucks entering Udupi district by taking Hosangady-Siddapur route and then moving to the city on the national highway.

There are reports that many of the ore trucks have moved to the city from both the Udupi district border at Ottinene, Shirur and Dakshina Kannada border at Gundia. It is said, people from Hosangady and Siddapur have complained about this phenomenon, but no action was taken. People are apprehensive that unless the district administration enforces total ban on the movement of ore trucks in the districts strictly, the trucks will start moving about in a big way, endangering the roads, bridges, traffic, life and property.

    Is it only the ore trucks that endanger life and proprety? What about the privatly owned public transport buses (city buses & service buses) and the Govt buses plying between Mangalore & Kasargod do they care about the lives of other commuters and the roads? Frankly speaking the ore trucks are a lessor danger to us than the private buses, the drivers of these buses have no driving dicipline nor any regard for anybody''s life.The police should patrol the roads on motor cycles during peak hours and book these drivers for driving rashly and endangering others lives should also keep a vigilant watch on the time keeping shedule of these busses.I''am sure if the RTO takes a small step to patrol the few but exceedingly busy roads of mangalore this menace might be curbed rather effectivly. I call upon all citizens of Mangalore to voice their distress of this menace.
